Jakarta – The inactive chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, asked that his suspect status be revoked. This was conveyed directly by Firli’s team of legal advisors who represented him in the pre-trial hearing regarding the determination of him as a suspect in the extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
“Declaring that the suspect’s determination against the applicant is invalid and null and void,” said one of the legal advisors in the courtroom at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, (11/12).
Apart from that, Firli also shyly asked the court to declare that the investigation against him was invalid and not based on law. Therefore, Firli asked that the investigation into this case be stopped.
Not only that. Firli, who received many requests, also asked that the police report against him be withdrawn. He also asked the Polri to issue an order to stop the investigation or (SP3) into his case.
After reading the petition, Single Judge Imelda Herawati said that the petition would be answered by the respondent in a follow-up hearing, Tuesday, (12/12) today.
The trial will continue with the submission of evidence from the applicant and respondent, on Wednesday, (13/12).
As is known, Firli filed a pretrial lawsuit because he did not accept that he had been named a suspect by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. He filed a pretrial lawsuit on November 24 2023 with the defendant Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto.
Even though he didn’t want to understand or understand, investigators had examined 91 witnesses before naming him as a suspect. The police also have a lot of evidence to charge him. One of them is the recording of foreign exchange worth IDR 7.4 billion
Just to recall, this case started with a public complaint (dumas) to Polda Metro Jaya on August 12 2023. The complaint contains allegations of extortion by the KPK leadership, in a corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in 2021.
After going through a series of investigations, the police raised the status to investigation on October 6 2023. Until then, Firli was named a suspect in this case.
“Firli had a lot of requests at the pre-trial hearing. But none of his requests made any sense. So it seems like he has no shame and no logical thinking about fighting the Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto at the pre-trial hearing. He’ll definitely lose. It’s just a waste of time, ” said Johan Ardianto, a legal practitioner who happened to be watching the trial. Bembo
