Jakarta – Three TNI AD soldiers accused in the murder case of Imam Masykur, a drug dealer in the Rempoa area, South Tangerang, Praka RM, Praka HS and Praka J were sentenced to life imprisonment.
This sentence decision was read out by the Panel of Judges led by Colonel Chk Rudy Dwi Prakamto with judge members Lt. Col. Chk Idolohi, S.H. and Major Kum Alissa Dandel, S.H, at the Military Court (Dilmil) II-O8 Jakarta, Cakung Mill, East Jakarta, Monday, (11/12).
The sentence of life imprisonment was imposed because according to the Panel of Judges, Praka RM and his 2 colleagues were proven to have violated Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder. The three of them also violated Article 328 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code concerning the Crime of Collaborative Kidnapping.
Apart from the basic sentence of life imprisonment, the three convicts also received an additional sentence, namely dismissal from military service.
This judge’s decision was lighter than the demands of Military Prosecutor Lt. Col. Chk Upen Jaya Supena who charged the three defendants with the death penalty in the previous trial.
Hearing the judge’s decision, the three convicts bowed down. The panel of judges then gave the defendant legal rights, namely acceptance or appeal. After coordinating with their legal advisor, they expressed their thoughts on the decision. Likewise with the prosecutor who said the same thing.
The panel of judges gave the three convicts a week’s deadline to convey their legal rights.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family, through their legal advisor, expressed their gratitude to Dilmil II-O8 Jakarta even though they were not satisfied with the verdict handed down. The reason is, the victim’s family hopes that the three perpetrators will be sentenced to death. Bembo
