Jakarta – Chief of Army Staff (KSAD) Jenderal TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said that he would continue several priority TNI AD programs that had been implemented by the previous KSAD. One of them is a clean water program for the people.
The former Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad) emphasized that the clean water program for the people which had been intensified by the TNI AD was one of his proposals which had been submitted to the previous KSAD Jenderal TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman when he was still in office Kostrad Commander.
Because he saw the community’s need for clean water, continued Jenderal Maruli, KSAD Jenderal Dudung at that time agreed to his proposal. And finally, the clean water program for the people is one of the TNI AD’s priority programs to help the people’s difficulties, especially in areas that still lack clean water.
Currently, continued Jenderal TNI Maruli, as the new KSAD , he will propose to Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto that the clean water program for the people can also become a TNI Headquarters program. So that all TNI from three dimensions can make the clean water program for the people a common priority.
“The first one was about water. When I was the Kostrad Commander I suggested it to the Army, (so that) it would become massive. Now we are starting to suggest that this should also be a program from TNI Headquarters. So it will be even more massive, the programs The additional program that was conveyed earlier includes stunting, and so on,” explained Jenderal TNI Maruli.
“I am sure that our activities will be even bigger with him (Panglima TNI) in the future,” he continued after the KSAD Sertijab ceremony at Army Headquarters, Central Jakarta, Friday, (1/12).
On the same occasion, Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto welcomed the proposal for a clean water program for the people from Jenderal TNI Maruli Simanjuntak. Panglima Agus admitted that the need for clean water is currently still a big problem in several areas.
In fact, continued Panglima Agus, he knew very well how Jenderal TNI Maruli ran a clean water program for the people of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) when he was still Commander of Military District IX/Udayana several years ago
“We will continue (the clean water program) because there are several areas, if Mr. Maruli says that the founding of this world is only now, he has water like in the NTT area and so on,” said Panglima Agus.
“We will continue with our programs apart from water, stunting, we will help if they are related, we do have programs, territorial operations in that field,” he added.
For your information, Jenderal TNI Maruli Simanjuntak was named the “Father of Indonesian Water” for his services in building 825 clean water points for people experiencing water difficulties in a number of areas throughout Indonesia.
In fact, the former Danpaspampres has just received an award from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as an Indonesian person who helped provide the most clean water to the community in a sustainable manner.
