Biak Numfor – Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto accompanied Indonesian President Joko Widodo in a series of peak activities at the 2023 Sail Teluk Cenderawasih event in the Semau Beach Area, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province, Thursday, (23/11).
The event with the theme “Strengthening Indonesian Maritime Sovereignty in the Pacific” was held with three main focuses as targets. Firstly, increasing investment, increasing exports of superior regional products and finally developing regional potential.
In his speech, President Joko Widodo said that the highlight of the Sail Teluk Cenderawasih 2023 event was introducing maritime potential, maritime potential, tourism potential, socio-cultural potential and at the same time as Indonesia’s homepage in the Pacific region.
Papua, the President continued, has abundant natural resources and Cenderawasih Bay is the area with the richest marine ecosystem in Indonesia. Cenderawasih Bay is a paradise for coral reefs and marine life. Apart from that, Sail Teluk Cenderawasih activities can also promote Papuan culture, dance, music and local products to the national and even international levels.
“This will encourage tourists, it will encourage investor interest to come and advance the land of Papua,” said the President.
Next, the Panglima TNI accompanied the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the Modern Fisherman’s Village, Sambar Binyeri, Yendidori District, Biak Numor Regency, Papua Province. After that, we continued with a review of the facilities in the modern fishing village, namely the Portable Frozen Building, Kalamo Ice Factory, fishing workshops and fishing boats.
At this event the Papuan Colossal Dance was also presented by Papuan sons and daughters, a sailing pass for 8 Republic of Indonesia Ships (KRI), 4 SAR ships, 1,000 saileri/fishing boats and a free fall for 40 paratroopers.
