Nduga – Soldiers from the Satgas Yonif Mekanis Raider 411/Pandawa succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of weapons and logistics which were to be sent to Nduga, Papua Mountains. The smuggled weapons and logistics will be sent to the Papuan Terrorist Separatist Group (KST) in the Nduga region.

Kapen Kogabwilhan III Kolonel Czi Gusti Nyoman Suriastawa said that two long-barreled weapons, the M4 and AR 15 types, had been confiscated, including an air rifle which would be sent to KST Papua in the Nduga region. The firearms were confiscated in a building around the Batas Batu Airport Camp.

“This is a very dangerous weapon because it is a new generation assault weapon, which will be used by KST to cause chaos in Kenyam, Nduga. As has happened recently. KST killed many people, both native people and innocent newcomers,” said Kolonel Czi Nyoman Suriastawa in his written statement, Sunday, (19/11).

It was explained that this failed action began when TNI members received information about KST’s action plan which would attack security forces and attack the community again. After receiving this information, Letkol Inf Subandi as Dansatgas Yonif Mekanis Raider 411/Pandawa together with his personnel immediately carried out a search in the Batas Batu Camp area which was suspected to be the Papua KST crossing point.

While carrying out searches at the two targets, the Task Force Team from Yonif 411/Pendawa Kostrad saw the suspected person running towards the forest and leaving behind items suspected of being smuggled. After inspection, in the building there were several sacks containing weapons and food.

“The sack contained 2 long-barreled rifles, M4 Carbine and AR 15 Carbine with 2 5.56 mm magazines, 1 air rifle, 1 machete, 2 Morning Star flags, 1 WD oil, 3 bows, 2 arrows, 3 diesel fuel, 4 25 kg bags of rice, 1 slop of lantern cigarettes, 5 kg of sugar, 5 kg of coffee, 5 cartons of delicious noodles, 5 kg of cooking oil, 10 liters of kerosene, 3 pans and flavorings ,” he explained.

According to Kolonel Czi Nyoman, the two weapons confiscated by his members were tools used by KST Papua to terrorize the community. He also suspected that the weapon would be used to attack security forces on December 1.

“It is suspected that the 2 weapons are weapons that will be used by KST Papua to carry out acts of terror against the community and attacks on security forces on December 1,” he explained.

Furthermore, he also suspected that the firearms belonging to KST Papua were smuggled from the border using water routes followed by land routes into Kenyam territory. If these weapons are not seized, it is possible that there will be further victims, whether from the public or security forces.

“Please pray for the entire community so that all soldiers on duty can carry out their duties well and always be guided by upholding human rights,” said Kolonel Czi Gusti Nyoman Suriastawa at the end of his statement. Bembo
