PWI Jaya Regrets Provocative Reporting about the Kapolda Metro in Eksnews.id Media

Acting Chairman of the PWI Jaya Honorary Council, Berman Nainggolan Lumbanraja.

Jakarta – The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Jaya deplores the tendentious reporting entitled “Kapolda Metro Mengkotak-kotakan Awak Media” dan “Silaturahmi Pilih Kasih, Abus Tarbian: Jangan Ciptakan Suasana Tidak Baik di Kalangan Wartawan” which went viral on social media. The two stories posted by the online media www.eksnews.id were deemed to have seriously violated journalistic norms.

“It is very inappropriate and unethical for the two news stories made by the Eksnews.id journalists. It is too obvious where the tendencies are leading. It is also unethical to write and post because the written material is very subjective comparing the current Kapolda Metro with the previous Kapolda Metro,” said Acting Chairman of the PWI Jaya Honorary Council, Berman Nainggolan Lumbanraja to topikonline.co.id, Thursday, (16/11).

According to him, these two articles are very provocative and have the potential to damage the cooling system efforts built by the Polri to maintain the conduciveness of Security and Order ahead of the 2024 Election. Apart from potentially damaging the cooling system, these two articles have also been seen to damage the image of both the Kapolda Metro, Inspector General Pol Karyoto personally, and the Polda Metro Jaya as an institution.

“Try to give the best and most logical reason, what is the basis for the journalist comparing the current Kapolda Metro with the previous Kapolda Metro? Then according to journalistic rules, how accurate and precise is the news material written according to the rules of journalistic dignity,” said Berman in criticism.

“What is clear is that the journalist who wrote the two stories has violated Article 3 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics (KEJ). Because this article states that in presenting information as a journalistic product, journalists are required to always test the information, report it in a balanced manner, and not mix facts and opinions. “is the judge, and applies the principle of presumption of innocence. The Eksnews.id journalist has turned all these points around through the two stories he made,” he continued to emphasize.

Furthermore, Berman also hopes that this problem can be resolved immediately through the Press Council. Moreover, both news stories have now gone viral and created a digital footprint.

“PWI Jaya deeply regrets the provocative and misleading news posts about Kapolda Metro Irjen Pol Karyoto which were broadcast by the media Eksnews.id. And I really hope that Polda Metro can immediately take firm steps by making a complaint to the Press Council for resolution,” Berman emphasized. Bembo
