Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto is collaborating with journalists to jointly support the holding of peaceful, democratic and quality elections by prioritizing journalistic principles.
“The media has a very important role in shaping public opinion and building public awareness of the importance of participation in elections. Because of that, I hope that journalists can provide enlightenment and education to the public about their rights and obligations as citizens in the elections,” said Kapolda Karyoto when holding a gathering with journalists who are members of the Police Journalists Forum (FWP) in the framework of the Cooling System for Media Reporting for Harkamtibmas. 2024 Peaceful Election, at the Polda Metro Jaya Promoter Building, Wednesday, (15/11).
This gathering activity aims to establish good communication and cooperation between the Polri and the media in providing accurate, objective and balanced information to the public, especially related to the security and social security situation ahead of the 2024 elections.
Present at this activity was FWP Chairman Muhammad Faruk along with FWP administrators and journalists from various print, electronic, online and television media who are members of FWP.
On this occasion, Kapolda Karyoto also hopes that the media can avoid reporting that is provocative, tendentious or contains hoaxes that have the potential to trigger conflict or social unrest.
Apart from that, Kapolda Karyoto also emphasized the importance of a cooling system for media reporting for the 2024 peaceful election Harkamtibmas. The cooling system is an effort to cool the atmosphere and reduce political tensions that may increase ahead of the election.

“We must respect each other and appreciate the differences in political views that exist in society. “And we must maintain national unity and integrity above all personal or group interests,” said Kapolda Karyoto.
“Be tolerant and uphold democratic values when competing in elections, together maintaining the conduciveness of Security and Order so that the elections can take place safely, smoothly and successfully,” he continued.
On this occasion, Kapolda Karyoto also stated that he would continue to coordinate with the media in eradicating criminal acts that could disrupt the running of the elections.
This two-star general also asked the media to report all forms of security and order disturbances that occurred in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya.
“We are ready to serve and protect the public, including the media. We hope that the media can provide us with constructive input and criticism. “We also express our gratitude for the good cooperation that has existed between the media and the Police,” he stressed at the end of his remarks.
