Jakarta – Former Deputy Chairman ( wakil ketua) of the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK), Saut Situmorang, answered the police summons to be questioned in the case of alleged blackmail by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Tuesday, (17/10) today.
Saut arrived at the Polda Metro Jaya Promoter Building at around 10.00 WIB wearing a black T-shirt, denim shirt and hat.
To journalists, Saut suspected that investigators would ask him to provide information as an expert. Because, he served as chairman of the KPK for the 2015-2019 period.
“Yes (perhaps as an expert) even though I’m not really an expert. But maybe the investigator considers me an expert, OK, go ahead,” said Saut at Polda Metro Jaya.
Saut said that in this examination, he would provide information regarding the mechanism for handling cases at the Anti-Corruption Agency.
Saut admitted that he was aware that there were a number of regulations made by the KPK leadership regarding work provisions or procedures. One of them is KPK Regulation Number 3 of 2018.
“There it regulates what the Corruption Eradication Commission is like, who receives the incoming letter, the complaint letter, what the process is and so on. Maybe later I will provide that information, apart from later why it can go into Articles 36 and 65. That’s all for now, ” he said.
Saut believes that Polda Metro Jaya will thoroughly investigate the case of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against SYL. Moreover, the commitment to eradicate corruption in Indonesia is at stake in this case.
“I think that if the eradication of corruption in Indonesia is at stake, I believe the National Police Chief from his statement shows that there are efforts that this time we have to create an anti-corruption body with external checks and balances,” he said.
Subdit V Corruption Crimes Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya is currently investigating allegations of extortion carried out by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
This alleged extortion case has entered the investigation stage based on the case title on Friday 6 October. In this case, investigators used Article 12 letter e or Article 12 letter B, or Article 11 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
In investigating this case, Polda Metro Jaya also asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding a request for supervision in the handling of the alleged extortion case of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
The supervision request dated October 11 contains a request to the Corruption Eradication Commission leadership to assign the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision to be involved in handling the case.
