Jakarta – The Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) Bareskrim Polri has arrested 866 suspects of online gambling practices from 2022 to August 2023.
This was conveyed by the Director of Cyber Crime (Dirtipidsiber) Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar to journalists in Jakarta, Thursday, (31/8).
“Disclosing the number of suspects, for 2022, we will arrest 760 online gambling suspects. Meanwhile for 2023, 106,” said Brigadier General Pol Vivid.
However, he also admitted that he could not provide details regarding the number of dealers from the hundreds of suspects who had been arrested.
“We don’t have complete data regarding data on which is the dealer or this, but later we can arrange the categories,” he said again.
He also said that the Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri is also collaborating with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to block online gambling sites.
“We have also been blocking sites that contain elements of online gambling. During 2022 we have submitted (for blocking) 401 blockings. Then in 2023 this will increase to 513,” he explained.
Apart from that, he continued, the National Police is also collaborating with law enforcement officials from other countries in eradicating online gambling syndicates. He said that many cases had been uncovered in collaboration with state police in ASEAN.
“So far, God willing, there have been no significant obstacles with our Southeast Asian police colleagues. Especially with the problem of online gambling, they have been very cooperative in helping,” he explained, ending his statement. Bembo
