Jakarta – Chairman of the Non-Governmental Organization People’s Communication Forum for Transparation (NGO FORSI) Berman Nainggolan really appreciates the steps taken by Polda Metro Jaya to plant 100,000 trees for early reforestation to preserve the country. Moreover, the air condition in the capital city is currently very bad.
As is known, the Capital City’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 165, which placed Jakarta in the category of unhealthy air quality. Previously, Jakarta’s air was ranked fourth worst in the world with an AQI of 153. Now Jakarta is in the second worst position. Therefore, air quality monitoring sites still recommend that people use masks when doing outdoor activities.
“The step taken by Polda Metro Jaya to plant 100,000 trees is very significant. But it will be even more meaningful if this can be consistently followed by follow-up steps to maintain the trees that have been planted,” said Berman in Jakarta, Thursday, (24/8).
The next step he intended was to maintain and care for the trees planted so that they could grow big and beautiful green. Not an easy matter, of course. Especially in the middle of summer now the volume of water discharge is also reduced.
“Regular watering accompanied by fertilization is a mandatory law that must be carried out to make the 100,000 trees planted grow quickly and make Jakarta green. You need to think from now on where the water will come from to be able to consistently do the watering and how much budget is prepared for fertilizing the trees so they grow big. ,” Berman said.
He also said that despite all the questions, he still had faith that Polda Metro Jaya would have had a follow-up plan from the start. Moreover, the steps taken by Polda Metro are also fully supported by Forkopimda DKI Jakarta and Forkopimda for Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi areas.
He hopes that the step of planting 100,000 trees carried out by Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (23/8) will benefit the community in the next two years.
“DKI Jakarta and its green and beautiful buffer zones are all of our hopes. And if that materializes, never forget that the initiator of this condition was Polda Metro Jaya under the leadership of Inspector General Pol Karyoto,” he concluded. Bembo
