Jakarta – The case of a truck accident that hit seven motorbikes in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, was the fault of the motorist going the opposite direction. That means, the motorist going in the opposite direction has the opportunity to become a suspect in the accident case.
This statement was conveyed by the Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Latif Usman to the media crew at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, (23/8).
“Yes, that could be the suspect for the victim (motorcyclist). Because he was the one who caused it, because he was not on his path. Yes, this is why. I was the victim who was injured,” he said.
It was explained that the victim in this case was the truck driver. Even though the accident was caused by the negligence of the motorist who went against the direction.
“Yes, that was the incident that caused him himself. The victim was actually a truck driver, because he became difficult, his car was damaged,” he explained.
Kombes Pol Latif also said that motorists who go against the direction have the potential to not get compensation from Jasa Raharja. Because the accident was caused by a violation.
“Yes, according to the provisions, if he commits a clear violation, you can’t get anything. Because he committed an offence. It was on purpose. Yes, I apologize for this, if for example you want to jump in, it’s a cliff, you go there, OK, what are you doing with insurance. People have their own intentions,” he explained again.
Previously, an accident between a truck and seven motorbikes going in the opposite direction occurred in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, heading for Depok, on Tuesday (22/8) morning. Police said the accident was allegedly triggered by motorists going in the opposite direction.
The police also stated that they would place an electronic ticket (e-TLE) mobile at the accident site. Enforcement against countercurrent motorists will be carried out electronically or manually.
