Bandung – The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Polda Jawa Barat arrested a YouTuber from Bandung for promoting online gambling. The YouTuber with the initials II alias EG was arrested with evidence of 3 cellphones, 2 laptops, up to 1 unit of luxury motorcycle.
Wadirreskrimsus Polda Jawa Barat, AKBP Anggoro Wicaksono said, apart from the YouTube channel, promotion of the online gambling site was also carried out through social media accounts (medsos).
“So the person concerned is promoting 6 online gambling sites via YouTube and Instagram,” said AKBP Anggoro to journalists, Saturday, (19/8).
He revealed, II alias EG had been promoting online gambling sites from January 2023 to July 2023. In this promotion, AI alias EG had made a profit of up to Rp395 million.
“He has carried out this activity from January to July 2023. He endorsed online gambling at these 6 web addresses, where the profits gradually started from Rp15 million, Rp50 million, to a total of approximately Rp395 million,” said AKBP Anggoro.
II alias EG was arrested by members of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Jawa Barat on July 31, 2023 based on reports from the public on the same day. II alias EG was arrested in the Sukasari area, Bandung City.
“So there are people who report it, we investigate and finally we arrest it on the same day,” AKBP Anggoro said.
II alias EG was charged by investigators with Article 45 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph 2 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to RI Law number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE. The penalty is 6 years in prison. Bembo
