Jakarta – The action of planting trees to preserve the earth was carried out by Polda Metro Jaya simultaneously with the ranks of the Polres to the Polsek. This action was also carried out to commemorate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day in 2023.
This action is part of the “Polri Preserves the Greening of the Country Early on” Program initiated by the Kapolri Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This program was born by the Kapolri as a form of Polri’s concern for the environment.
“We are saving the earth through the Police Care for Greening activities. We planted 5,000 trees at SPN Polda Metro and another 10,000 trees were planted in 10 areas of the Polda Metro Jaya Regional Police. Each area planted 1,000 trees,” said the Head of the HR Bureau at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Langgeng Purnomo told reporters, Friday, (18/8).
He also revealed that Polda Metro Jaya’s Greening Concern Police activities were carried out simultaneously. Some of the planting locations included the SPN Polda Metro Jaya as well as the Polres and Polsek ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya which planted 15,000 trees.
Activities like this, he continued, have many benefits such as overcoming the problem of flooding, reducing the threat of global warming, increasing oxygen production, and more specifically being able to reduce air pollution levels in DKI Jakarta and its surroundings.
Apart from that, Kombes Pol Langgeng continued, this tree planting activity was also a concrete form of collaboration between the police and the community.
Local residents who join in this action are a reflection of a shared awareness to protect nature and create a healthier and more sustainable environment.
“The role of the police is not only limited to law enforcement. But it is also actively involved in social activities that are beneficial to society and the environment,” said Kombes Pol Langgeng.
He also said that the planting of 15,000 trees spread across 11 locations within the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya would provide great benefits for the surrounding residents. Empty land becomes more productive and the benefits will be felt directly by the community.
Also seen present witnessing the tree planting action included the Deputy for Coordinating the Mental Revolution, Promotion of Culture and Increasing Achievement of the Coordinating Ministry for PMK Didik Suhardi, and Expert Staff to the Minister of Environment Dr. Sonny Y Soeharso.
