Polda Metro Guarantees Bank BCA Customer Data Is Safe Not Trapped by MRGP Suspects

Press conference on the sale of bank customer data via the dark web which was successfully revealed by the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, Monday (14/8) afternoon.

Jakarta – The Director of Special Criminal Investigation for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak guarantees that the customer data of Bank BCA is safe and cannot be broken into by the suspect MRGP (28). The MRGP suspect himself is the perpetrator of selling data that is claimed to be BCA Bank customer credit card data on the Breachforums Website (Dark Web).

Currently, the MRGP suspect has been detained by investigators from the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya for legal proceedings.

The suspect is known to be the owner of an account with the name Pentagram. With this account, the suspect committed an illegal crime of access and manipulation on the Dark Web Breachforums.

As is well known, BreachForums is a place for world hackers to carry out data buying and selling transactions or simply to leak data breached results for free.

“We ensure that the data offered by the suspect at BreachForums does not belong to Bank BCA customers,” said Kombes Pol Ade Safri, Monday, (14/8).

He said, the data that was circulating was the result of a web leak. The suspect got it when he was an employee at an online loan company (pinjol) and also when he was an online gambling employee operator in Cambodia.

Kombes Pol Ade Safri said that there were 20,000 data obtained from the MRGP suspects, both personal data and financial data. Meanwhile, the motive for the suspect’s determination to commit this crime was due to economic motives and resentment towards the company where he previously worked.

“The MRGP suspect also claimed to be inspired by Hacker Bjorka,” he said.

Investigators at the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya are still developing this case, regarding whether there was a purchase, as well as the involvement of other networks or actors. Bembo
