Jakarta – Traffic jams in the DKI Jakarta area have increased with an index number in the middle of 2023. Based on these index numbers, currently congestion in the DKI Jakarta area has reached 53 percent.
“Yesterday, if I’m not mistaken, if it’s measured, look at the statistics agency, we have the index at 53 percent,” said Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director, Kombes Pol Latif Usman to the media crew in Jakarta, Saturday, (12/8) yesterday.
He admitted, the value of the 53 percent figure was an increase compared to the figure during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019 which was 35 percent. Meanwhile, the ideal congestion index in DKI Jakarta should be no more than 50 percent.
“This is indeed the volume of vehicle activity which is quite high and the activity of the community in these activities is also very high. So indeed the volume is very high and what we anticipate we have conveyed is the proposal for working hours. We are still waiting for a decision from the governor,” he said.
He further said that to anticipate this, his party always alerts personnel at points and hours prone to traffic jams in Jakarta to manage traffic.
Ditlantas Polda Metro, he continued, will always try hard to maximize the placement of personnel to make arrangements at vulnerable points. Bembo
