Jakarta – The figure of Oesman Sapta Odang or who is more familiarly called OSO, is now known as an Indonesian politician who leads the Hanura Party.
Prior to that, OSO also served as deputy chairman of the RI MPR for the 1999-2004 period and was re-elected as deputy chairman of the state high institution from the DPD-RI group for the 2014-2019 period.
An extraordinary record, of course, for this man who was born 18 August 1950. Especially considering that he is a new figure in the world of politics.
Outside of his political activities, maybe not many people know that OSO is a top professional businessman.
And this isn’t tinned info. In the business sector, OSO has a business octopus that covers many areas of the company.

According to Globe Asia magazine, in 2016 OSO’s wealth is estimated at USD350 million. And this has put him on the list of the 150 richest people in Indonesia.
It is undeniable that his strong business spirit has succeeded in making him a conglomerate. His OSO Group is also rapidly engaged in various fields, ranging from printing, mining, mineral water, property, plantations, fisheries, transportation, communications, finance, and hospitality.
In early 2012, OSO appointed Tanri Abeng as CEO of the OSO Group to replace him.
He also announced George Toisutta as president commissioner and his son Raja Sapta Oktohari as president director.
Apart from serving as CEO of the OSO Group, Oesman also serves as Commissioner of the airline Lion Air.

To get to know this figure more closely, OSO has the name and title Dr. (H.C.) H. Oesman Sapta Odang customary title Datuk Bandaro Sutan Nan Kayo (Minangkabau Traditional Title) Karaeng I Mannuntungngi Daeng Marewa (Bugis Traditional Title).
Looking at his background in the past, OSO was born to Odang (father) from Palopo, South Sulawesi and Asnah Hamid (mother) from Difficult Air, Solok, West Sumatra.
Even though he completed his high school education by taking a Package C diploma, he successfully obtained an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the Senior International University in the United States in 1999.
He earned this title, before completing his high school level in 2006.
OSO then tried to be active in the world of politics and was the founder of the Regional Unity Party.
However, because in several general elections the party did not pass the electoral threshold, he finally joined the Hanura Party and has served as General Chair since 2016.

Besides being active in political parties, OSO is also involved in various organizations.
He has been the general chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) since 2010.
It is known that in 2020, OSO was also included in the list of 53 recipients of the Republic of Indonesia Medal of Honor.
